CARR Centritech VP Pilot

Pneumatic Scale Angelus' CARR VP Pilot combines fast, gentle, small- to medium-scale cell harvesting and supernatant recovery for shear cells such as mammalian and insect cells and high G-force for liquid/solid separations of bacteria, yeast, proteins or submicron particles.

 

Viafuge Bowl For General Operation

Cells are concentrated at the bowl wall, while clarified supernatant is continuously discharged throughout the separation process. Once the bowl fills with cell concentrate to a capacity of 1.3L, a simple manifold system and concentrate pump is utilized to recover the cells without breaking containment. Subsequent cycles are performed for recovery of larger batches.

 

Improved Product Processing

Cellular damage can result in release of intracellular material such as DNA, which may increase downstream processing and, in some cases, impact product purity. Because the VP Pilot is gentle to cells, damage is minimized from the start of the process. For supernatant recovery applications, filtration requirements downstream may be reduced. For cell harvesting applications, intact cell recovery will be increased.

 

Low-Shear Design

The VP Pilot’s unique design minimizes shear forces on cells. Incoming feed is matched to the bowl hub’s rotational velocity, allowing fast, efficient harvesting of even the most shear-sensitive cells without causing cell damage.

CARR Centritech Viafuge V12

Pneumatic Scale Angelus' unique Viafuge V12 offers a major breakthrough in gentle cell separations, with no damage at medium- to large-scale production levels. The continuous flow Viafuge V12 allows rapid cell harvesting and supernatant clarifications with unsurpassed viability, 99% recovery of intact cells, and up to 90% reduction in filtration needs.

With flow rates up to 40 LPM and a variable speed drive, the Viafuge V12’s versatile performance characteristics enable the optimization of specific applications. Closed system operation allows recovery of concentrated cells and clarified supernatant without breaking containment.

Using an innovative patented design, the Viafuge V12 introduces feed into the SoftStreamTM accelerator through a stationary pipe, where it is accelerated to full rotational speed under low shear before entering the titanium-alloy bowl. Cells are then concentrated along a gentle path between the core and the bowl wall. The clarified supernatant is continuously discharged by gravity at atmospheric pressure. Periodically, the concentrated cells are automatically recovered from the Viafuge V12 for collection, and the cycle is repeated to process the remainder of the feed batch.

Upon completion of the separation process, automated CIP/SIP cycles may be performed via the PLC-controlled TrueCleanTM operating sequence. The Viafuge V12 facilitates cGMP compliance by offering a simple sanitary design including strategic placement of sprayballs and jets, ASME-rated configurations for steam sterilization and a flexible CIP/SIP software program.

CARR Centritech Powerfuge Pilot

There’s a point in discovery when you need efficient, high-volume product throughput, and dealing with bottles would impede productivity. This is when you need the CARR Powerfuge Pilot from Pneumatic Scale Angelus, the high-productivity, batch liquid/solid separation system for bacteria, yeast, proteins and sub-micron particles with simple cleaning. The Powerfuge Pilot’s design helps reduce the time required for maintenance, particularly since there are few parts to replace. And when you’re at the end of a run, compressed solids are easily removed with minimal time and effort, using a hand scraper contoured to fit the 1L capacity bowl.

Time Saving Operation

Fast processing, at a rate of up to 1L per minute, means that you can accomplish more runs in a single day, which is especially useful for larger batch sizes. And because the Powerfuge Pilot eliminates the need for bottles, you can set up runs in less time, with fewer manipulations.

Variable Speed For Your Choice of Separating Power

The Powerfuge Pilot is equipped with a variable-speed drive.  You can select flow rates of up to 60 L/hr and RCF to 20,000 g, providing the operational control necessary to optimize your process.

Fully Transportable

The Powerfuge Pilot can be easily moved from one site to another, since there are no special or lengthy installation requirements like bolt-down. In addition, the system is compact when compared to other products of similar capacities, which helps conserve valuable bench space while giving you more freedom to position the unit in the best possible location.

A Wide Choice of Temperatures

An integral cooling jacket helps maintain product temperatures from 2º C - 40º C. The jacket itself can withstand flow rates as high as 2L/minute and internal cooling temperatures as low as -10º C in order to provide the desired net process temperature.

CARR Centritech Powerfuge P6

Pneumatic Scale Angelus' unique CARR Powerfuge P6 System provides continuous-flow two-phase separation of solids and liquids at rates up to 60 liters/hour.

Using an innovative design, the feed is introduced through a stationary pipe and accelerated to full rotational speed before entering the titanium-alloy bowl. In this system, centrifugal forces as great as 20,000 g permit separation of even sub-micron particles.  Compressed solids are periodically removed with a fully-automated scraping cycle. After the solids have been discharged, automated CIP/SIP cycles can be performed via the PLC-controlled operating sequence.

The Powerfuge P6 is designed for ease of operation, with sealed feed and drain lines, allowing for aerosol-free operation. Similarly, no special tools are required to disassemble the system.  Integrated turnkey systems incorporating feed delivery options, CIP and SIP skids, temperature control, and closed-loop centrate pumping under vacuum are available.

The Powerfuge P6 system meets cGMP and CE requirements and has been validated to meet chemical and pharmaceutical industry protocols. CARR Centritech Powerfuge P12

Pneumatic Scale Angelus’ unique CARR Centritech Powerfuge P12 System provides
continuous-flow two-phase separation of solids and liquids at rates up to 500 liters/
hour for batches up to 4,000 liters.

Using an innovative design, the feed is introduced through a stationary pipe and
accelerated to full rotational speed before entering the titanium-alloy bowl. In this
system, centrifugal forces as 20,000 g permit separation of even sub-micron particles.
Compressed solids are periodically removed with a fully automated scraping cycle.
After the solids have been discharged, automated CIP/SIP cycles can be performed via
the PLC-controlled operating sequence.

The Powerfuge P12 is designed for ease operation, with seal feed and drain lines allowing for aerosol-free operation. Similarly, no special tools are required to disassemble the
system. Integrated turnkey systems incorporating feed delivery options, CIP and SIP

Pneumatic Scale Angelus’ unique CARR Powerfuge P18 System provides continuous-flow two-phase separation of solids and liquids at rates up to 1,700 liters/hour for batches up to 10,000 liters. 

Using an innovative design, the feed is introduced through a stationary pipe and accelerated to full rotational speed before entering the titanium-alloy bowl. In this system, centrifugal forces as great as 20,000 g permit separation of even sub-micron particles. Compressed solids are periodically removed with a fully-automated scraping cycle. After the solids have been discharged, automated CIP/SIP cycles can be performed via the PLC-controlled operating sequence.
