CARR Centritech LAB III

Mammalian and insect cells are especially fragile and susceptible to shear forces. The LAB III System provides a low-shear technology to improve the yield in perfusion, harvesting or other cell processing applications. Unlike filtration systems which inherently clog or foul, the LAB III System provides reproducible, steady state operation.

CARR Centritech CELL II

Like the smaller bench top model, the Lab III, the Cell II system utilises a disposable separation insert.

The separation insert (and attached tubing) is the only part of the system that comes in contact with the cell culture. Typical applications include harvesting cells for viral vaccine manufacturing, cellular therapy, perfusion for monoclonal antibody production and media exchange. The separation insert enables closed-system processing, reducing the chance for contamination of the culture and leakage of potentially harmful products.

Using a three-step process of separation, isolation and discharge, the Cell II system controls the sedimentation rate of the cells, as well as the flow rate and flow direction of the fluid streams entering and leaving the separation chamber. An inflatable barrier segregates the cell-rich material from the supernatant, ensuring a complete discharge of cells during each cycle.

CARR Centritech CELL 8

Separation occurs entirely within a gamma-irradiated, single-use separation insert and tubing system, referred to as a Separation Insert.  The Separation Insert allows for a single-use, closed-system process, eliminating the potential for contamination and product leakage, as well as a rapid changeover.  A three-step process of separation, isolation, and discharge controls the sedimentation rate of the cells as well as the flow rate and direction of the fluid streams entering and leaving the separation chamber.  An inflatable barrier segregates the cell-rich material from the supernatant, ensuring a complete discharge of cells during each cycle.

CARR Unifuge Pilot

The CARR UniFuge Pilot from Pneumatic Scale Angelus uses a gamma irradiated, single-use module that requires NO CIP and NO SIP. All process contact surfaces are easy to install and are 100% replaceable after each run. Low shear harvesting of mammalian and insect cells is possible, and minimal reduction in viability of recovered cells is achievable. Since the cells are not lysed, production of cell debris in the centrifuge is minimized, making the UniFuge an excellent choice for both cell recovery or centrate clarification.

UniFuge modules are readily tube welded to your single-use bioreactor connections. (Customer-specified single-use connectors available upon request.) The UniFuge is completely automated with flexible cycle parameter entry. The feed suspension is gently pumped to the module and the cells settle to the outer radius while the clear supernatant is continuously discharged. Once the module has filled with cells, the controller stops the rotor and discharges the cells. This cycle is repeated until the bioreactor volume has been processed.
